Qualified Social Worker – Children with Disability Team

Location: Wareham, Dorset

Hours: Full-Time (37 hours per week, Monday to Friday)

Myn is recruiting for a Level 3 Qualified Social Worker to join our long-term partner's Children with Disability Team based in Wareham, Dorset. This is a rewarding role that involves supporting children with disabilities and their families, ensuring they receive the care and services they need.

What You'll Do:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop personalised care plans to support children with disabilities.
  • Manage a caseload of up to 18 children, including Child Protection (CP), Child in Need (CIN), and Children in Care (CiC) cases.
  • Provide direct support and advocate for children and families, helping them access the services they need.
  • Coordinate short breaks for parents and carers, ensuring respite support is available.
  • Collaborate with professionals from health, education, and social care, engaging in multi-agency work with SEN, ID CAMHS, CAMHS, and mental health teams.
  • Handle safeguarding concerns and lead Section 47 investigations when necessary.
  • Apply the Mental Capacity Act for children aged 16+, ensuring their rights and needs are met.
  • Maintain accurate case records, present cases to funding panels, and contribute to decision-making.

What We're Looking For:

  • A BA(Hons) in Social Work and registration with Social Work England (SWE).
  • At least three years of post-qualification experience in a Local Authority, with at least one year working with disabled children or young adults.
  • Experience handling complex cases involving mental health, learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and autism.
  • Strong knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and procedures for short breaks.A valid driving licence with business use insurance.
  • Ability to work both in the office and remotely.
