Business Development Manager

We are recruiting for Business Development Manager to join a Leighton Buzzard based company who have several depots within the south region. For this role, it's imperative you have a core understanding of the logistics industry, including import & export.

Overview:

  • As a dynamic and results-driven Business Manager you will play a pivotal role in driving business growth by identifying new opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, and fostering strong relationships with both existing and prospective clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Commercial Director to develop and implement sales strategies aligned with company objectives and market trends.
  • Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities within the logistics industry, including but not limited to warehousing, transportation, and distribution services.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, understanding their needs and delivering exceptional customer service to ensure satisfaction and retention.
  • Stay abreast of market developments, competitor activities, and industry trends to identify emerging opportunities and potential threats.
  • Monitor and analyse sales performance metrics, providing regular reports and insights to management for informed decision-making.
  • Work as part of the sales team to achieve targets and exceed expectations, provide guidance, coaching and support where needed.
  • Negotiate favourable terms and agreements with clients, ensuring alignment with company policies and objectives.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, marketing, and finance, to ensure seamless execution of customer onboarding, sales initiatives and projects.

Profile:

  • Experience and knowledge of the logistics industry is essential.
  • Ability to commute and visit customers/other sites where needed.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are key to this role.
  • Good presentational and customer service skills with a logical approach to problem solving.
  • Strong excel and computer skills.

Requirements:

  • Previous sales experience in logistics is essential.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages e.g. Powerpoint, Outlook, Excel & Word.
  • Adaptable IT skills.
  • Good attention to detail is essential.
