COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER - INSIDE IR35 - INITIAL 6 MONTHS

One of Loriens leading NHS clients are looking for a experienced Communications Manager to join their team on an initial 6 month contract with the view to possibly go perm or extend long term.

2 x per week on site in Edinburgh

The Communications Manager will support the Head of Communications in developing, managing and implementing effective communication plans and strategies which meet the needs of patients, service users, public, the media and other key stakeholders. This includes the planning, management, delivery and evaluation of internal and external communications, press and public relations and marketing campaigns.

The postholder is required to

  • Anticipate and respond to media requests and enquiries, brief journalists on sensitive or complex issues and advise staff on any interactions with the media, providing specialist advice, support and training, where required.
  • Develop and deliver communications plans for specific projects, events, campaigns and initiatives, providing expert advice and support to staff across the organisation.
  • Provide communications advice and support to Board Members, Executive Directors and Senior Managers to ensure the delivery of effective communications to staff, patients and the public.
  • Manage potential reputation risks through proactive and reactive communications and the development of communication plans to effectively respond to unplanned and unexpected issues and incidents.
  • Maintain organisational standards, identify promotional opportunities and areas for improvement and supports practice that is inclusive, fit for purpose and complies with relevant legislative and policy requirements.
  • Anticipates potential communication barriers and helps overcome these by identifying practical and innovative solutions.
  • Provides specialist expertise in the design, development and management of internal and external communication channels.
  • Line manage, support and develop staff within the Communications Department, by championing best practice, agreeing individual priorities and objectives while supporting the routine work of the Department.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of the overarching Communications Framework Strategy, policies and priorities by identifying potential changes and improvements on an ongoing basis.
  • Develop and implement communications campaigns which contribute to organisational priorities and achieve measurable outcomes.
