Behaviour Mentor

We are looking for a Behaviour Mentor in East London to work in a pupil referral unit. The school are committed to providing an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all our students. The school community is built on a foundation of empathy, understanding, and the belief that every student deserves an excellent education tailored to their individual needs. As a behaviour mentor, you will be an integral part of our dedicated team, supporting KS3 & 4 students with varying levels of behavioural needs in their educational journey. Your role will be crucial in promoting a positive and inclusive learning experience, allowing our students to thrive both academically and emotionally.

What you'll be doing:

  • Work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to implement tailored learning plans and strategies for students with behavioural difficulties
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students in the classroom setting, assisting with academic tasks and promoting their engagement in learning activities.
  • Foster a nurturing and inclusive environment to encourage the social and emotional development of students.

What you'll need:

  • Previous experience working in a PRU environment is highly desirable.
  • A genuine passion for working in an educational setting and supporting the needs of children with special educational needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with students, teachers, parents, and other professionals.
  • Patience, empathy, and adaptability to cater to the diverse needs of students.
  • A relevant qualification in education or special educational needs is an advantage but not mandatory.
