Estates Manager

My client are looking for a dedicated and pro-active Estates Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining and improving our school's estate, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for our community. Day to Day of the role:
- Manage both planned and reactive maintenance for the school, including liaising with contractors and scheduling work.
- Oversee maintenance budgets under the direction of the Bursar.
- Coordinate improvement works for holiday periods, from procurement to managing contractors.
- Be on-hand for 1st fix repairs.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety and building regulations, conducting checks and maintaining records.
- Oversee the cleaning contract, liaising with the company, problem-solving, and monitoring compliance.
- Monitor critical systems such as heating, lighting, water, and drainage, reporting and resolving any issues.
- Conduct weekly tests of fire alarm and security systems, maintaining accurate records.
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance within personal competence.
- Maintain the presentation of school grounds, ensuring cleanliness and tidiness.
- Respond to ad hoc requests from staff for repairs and maintenance.
- Manage contractors on-site during holiday periods and undertake driving duties as directed.
- Assist during school functions or lettings, ensuring the school is presentable for events.
- Maintain site security, manage building access, and keep a detailed inventory of equipment, stock, and keys.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in estate or facilities management, preferably within an educational setting.
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and building compliance.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage budgets and oversee maintenance works.
- Competence in minor repair works and maintenance tasks.
- Good communication skills for liaising with contractors, staff, and the wider school community.
- A proactive approach to estate management and the ability to respond to urgent issues effectively.
- A valid driving licence may be required for driving duties.
