Our client, a prominent manufacturing company accredited with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Environmental Officer to join their team. This role is crucial for managing and enhancing the company's environmental management systems, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and driving sustainability initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain environmental policies and programs in line with ISO 14001 standards.
- Ensure compliance with local, national, and international environmental regulations.
- Conduct environmental audits and assessments, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
- Lead initiatives to reduce waste, emissions, and energy consumption throughout the manufacturing process.
- Monitor and report on environmental performance, preparing detailed reports for senior management.
- Collaborate with various departments to integrate environmental considerations into business decisions.
- Provide training and support to employees on environmental issues and best practices.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies, certification agencies, and external stakeholders regarding environmental matters.
- Stay updated on environmental trends, legislation, and best practices to ensure ongoing compliance and improvement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental position, preferably in the manufacturing sector.
- In-depth knowledge of ISO 14001 standards and experience with ISO 9001 quality management systems.
- Proven track record of successful environmental and sustainability projects.
- Strong understanding of environmental laws and regulations.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Certification in environmental management (e.g., NEBOSH Environmental Diploma) is a plus.
