The Role:

Fleet Services play a crucial role in supporting critical resident focused services through the provision, maintenance, and ongoing management of commercial vehicles. As a Fleet Engineer the successful candidate will provide specialist knowledge for the sourcing of commercial vehicles, coordinate vehicle maintenance and provide technical and legislative support to the Fleet services team ensuring the ongoing roadworthiness and compliance of council-operated vehicles.

An excellent communicator with advanced excel skills this person will use their base knowledge of the fleet sector and help improve the current service though development and excellent collaboration across multiple divisions and directorates. The successful candidate will be committed to their continuous development as a member of the fleet team with the ability to work well in a small team responsible for delivering this critical service.

This role is in a fast-moving environment. Needing to be able to adapt to the busy influx of colleagues and support with the changing situations that arise with vehicles and issues related.

About You

We are seeking a Fleet engineer who has:

Relevant industry experience within the Fleet sector

Good working knowledge of sustainable transport options

In depth knowledge of vehicle specifications

Advanced in Microsoft packages, digitally capable in analysing data

Full UK manual driving licence

Educated to Degree level or relevant experience or demonstrable experience
