Role Overview

We are looking for a proactive Paralegal to join our Private Client Department in an office-based role, supporting our solicitors in estate planning, wills, probate, and trusts. You will handle fee-earning tasks suitable for your level, supervise junior colleagues to ensure high-quality work, and assist with legal research, document preparation, and client communications.
Our Private Client team prides itself on building long-term relationships with our clients, offering expert legal services while fostering trust and care in every interaction.

Hours of Work: Full Time: 35 hours per week, 9.00-5.00pm Monday to Friday.
Salary: Up to £29k per annum (depending on experience)

Are you an experienced Paralegal with at least 2 years of experience in Private Client law? If so, we'd love to hear from you!

In this role, you'll:

  • Take client instructions, schedule appointments, conduct initial interviews, and gather necessary information and documents.
  • Draft legal documents such as wills, powers of attorney, trust documents, and probate forms, and handle correspondence with clients and third parties.
  • Provide administrative support to solicitors, managing files, organising documents, and maintaining calendars.
  • Conducting legal research on private client matters,
  • Communicate with clients, estate agents, financial institutions, and other third parties on behalf of solicitors,
  • Assist with the management of client matters and files, tracking deadlines, monitoring case progress, and ensuring that tasks are completed in a timely manner.
  • Help with billing and accounting tasks, including preparing invoices and tracking billable hours.
  • Assist in preparing and filing court documents and registrations, ensuring compliance with deadlines.
  • Attend client meetings and signings, taking notes and assisting with document execution.
  • Carrying out site visits and checking on properties within estates.
  • Provide backup administrative support when required, ensuring seamless operation within the team.
  • Participate in marketing and networking activities, whether firm wide, departmental or office basis.

What We're Looking For:

The ideal candidate will ideally have at least 2 years of experience in a legal environment, preferably in private client law. You should be well-versed in estate administration, drafting wills, creating trusts, and handling probate matters. While a degree in law or a related field is preferred, it is not essential if you have relevant experience. A solid understanding of SRA standards and the ability to conduct legal research to support cases is also required.

We are seeking a detail-oriented Paralegal with a strong focus on accuracy in document preparation and proofreading. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, as you will be working closely with clients, providing clear, jargon-free advice. You should be highly organised, with excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong problem-solving abilities, the initiative to address issues, and a thorough approach to legal research are key to success in this role. Proficiency in MS Office and legal software, including case management systems, is also crucial.

You should be proactive, dependable, and able to work independently while knowing when to seek guidance. As a collaborative team player, you'll also guide and support junior colleagues, ensuring high-quality work across the department. A client-focused mindset is vital, demonstrating empathy, professionalism, and maintaining confidentiality in all client interactions.
