We are seeking a Corporate Assurance Officer on behalf of our client to support the team in handling various channels of referrals and determining the appropriate course of action. This role involves preliminary checks, investigations, interviews under caution, and preparation of court papers, as well as supporting with National Fraud Initiative (NFI) data matching investigatory work.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Review referrals received via emails or systems and decide on the necessary actions.
  • Conduct preliminary checks using relevant systems such as Academy/Enterprise.
  • Carry out investigations, including interviewing under caution and preparing court papers.
  • Support with NFI data matching investigatory work.
  • Ensure all corporate assurance activities comply with Public Sector Internal Audit Standards (PSIAS) and best practices in anti-fraud, governance, and risk management.
  • Monitor assigned assurance/anti-fraud/governance or risk work to ensure delivery within the allocated time, professional standards, and service objectives.
  • Prepare high-quality and timely draft assurance reports for internal review and presentation to internal and external stakeholders, including senior management.
  • Maintain high levels of accuracy and compliance with relevant professional standards and best practices.
  • Assist in preparing detailed assurance planning briefs for assignments in order to define the specific scope, objectives and appropriate methodology as agreed with the client sponsor.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Professional Fraud Qualification (e.g., ACFS) to enable Interviews Under Caution.
  • Experience in Local Government.
  • Preferably experience in using Fraud Management System (Intec), Academy, and Enterprise (Benefits and Council Tax systems).
  • Ability to work 37 hours per week with flexible and agile working options.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards in accordance with PSIAS and best practices.
  • Successful progress/ completion of Institute of Internal Auditors IACert qualification or A/I/C E equivalent qualification in another assurance area (governance, risk management or anti-fraud)
  • Willingness to achieve the first level of the IIA qualification or work towards another relevant Level 4 qualification in another assurance area (governance, risk management or anti-fraud).
  • Experience in a local government or a commercially driven / client focussed assurancefunction, broader finance or governance function or customer services environment.
