Senior Cost Manager

We are seeking a Senior Cost Manager with over 10 years of experience, including more than 5 years in a senior role on major capital projects within the Power & Chemical sector. This role requires a strong background in cost management, ideally client-side, and will involve supporting the client's Project Controls and potentially Contract Management from a cost perspective.

Day to day of the role:

  • Interrogate and analyze the EPC contractors' cost collection, cost reporting, and forecasting.
  • Work in environments where parties seek to protect their contractual position.
  • Provide cost input to change management and agree on rates and prices with the contractor.
  • Review cost & commercial submissions from the contractor, providing advice and guidance to the client.
  • Agree on the value of work done, including processing valuations, applications, and invoices.
  • Ensure the change management process is followed by all parties.
  • Agree on the value of work done on fixed-price contracts and target cost and pain/gain incentive schemes.
  • Review and verify costs in line with the schedule of cost components and audit costs as per the contract.
  • Lead cost reviews and meetings with the contractor on behalf of the client.
  • Provide cost input to the client project team and business support functions (e.g., finance).
  • Offer ad-hoc support to the client as agreed with the client's Project Cost Management (PCM).

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in cost management within the industrial sector (power, chemical, oil, gas, etc.).
  • More than 5 years as a Senior Cost Manager on major capital projects (several hundred million to over a billion pounds).
  • Expertise in civil, mechanical, pipework, electrical, instrumentation, access, insulation, and painting.
  • Strong analytical skills for interrogating and analyzing cost data.
  • Experience in contract management and change management processes.
  • Proficiency in agreeing on rates and prices, reviewing submissions, and verifying costs.
  • Ability to lead cost reviews and represent the client in discussions with contractors.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
