Reed Education Southampton are currently seeking a passionate and patient Teaching Assistant to fulfil a long-term, full-time temporary role within an independent specialist school located in Dibden, Southampton. This role is currently temporary but could become permanent for the right candidate!

This is an independent specialist school in Dibden for pupils aged 8-16 who have a range of complex needs, including Social Emotional Mental Health, communication and interaction, and associated challenging behaviours. The school aim to provide the best education for every child to achieve the best possible outcomes, and emphasise collaboration to allow pupils to engage with education and reach their full potentials.

As the Teaching Assistant, you will connect directly with the brilliant pupils and young people the school care for, helping to make sure they get the very best from their education. Each individual has so much potential, and they will rely on you to guide their learning journeys. You will help prepare learning materials and run classroom activities, with plenty of hands-on experience and some supervision too. You will take responsibility for their emotional and physical needs, supporting them to develop as individuals and engage with the world.

Supporting pupils with complex Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) needs is important and rewarding work, and you will benefit from the tremendous support offered by their hugely experienced teams. As you help our pupils and young people achieve real and significant progress, you will enjoy having a direct, positive impact on their developing lives.

The salary for this role is currently set between £85-95 per day, and will be a long term, temporary role. This is set to start as soon as possible.

For this role, you will:

- Have previous school experience

- Be adaptable and ready to work in a variety of ways

- Have previous SEN/SEMH experience (desirable)

- Be able to take a caring and responsive approach, and able to supervise pupils as they explore further afield
