Gardener

  • Working Hours: 8 - 4.15 (Monday to Friday)
  • Location: SE1
  • Salary: £30,000 - £32,000

We are looking for a dedicated Gardener to join our team, contributing to the maintenance of amenity garden areas on public housing estates to a consistently high standard. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about gardening, enjoys working outdoors in various weather conditions, and is capable of performing physically demanding tasks.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Delivering a specified programme of green space watering across estates.
  • Performing general gardening tasks such as deadheading, pruning, weeding, soft edging, leaf clearance, and occasional grass-cutting.
  • Taking responsibility for personal health and safety and that of others.
  • Communicating with residents in a polite and professional manner, upholding the organisation's reputation.
  • Carrying out other reasonable tasks as defined by the manager or Head Gardener in line with the role remit, which may include supporting estate cleaning tasks.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Physical fitness to meet the demands of the role, including walking over landscaped terrain, lifting and moving hose pipes, and working outside in all weather conditions.
  • An interest in gardening and willingness to learn.
  • Demonstrably good teamwork skills.
  • Ability to self-motivate and prioritise workload effectively.
  • Professional and respectful attitude towards colleagues and residents.
  • Capable of handling occasional difficult situations with tact and diplomacy.

Desirable:

  • Previous gardening experience.
  • Full clean driving licence.
  • Awareness of health and safety practices.
