Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer

The Recruitment Co are recruiting for a Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer for our client based in Nelson who are a market leader in the retail distribution sector.

Role Purpose:

Work closely with the Engineering Team Lead, taking responsibility for delivering a high quality engineering service in support of the achievement of operational targets.
Continuously work to improve the performance of People and Plant to deliver site efficiency and performance standards.
Complete the full range of maintenance activities across the entire installed asset base within the area that they work.
Rapidly diagnose and resolve both mechanical, electrical plus basic control & instrumentation faults.
Complete all work allocated to a high standards having the ability to complete all maintenance tasks across the installed asset base.
Working as a key member of the Engineering team, demonstrating Company Values and flexibility to support other teams/departments where required.
Accurately completing all monitoring systems required by the Company in accordance with Company Policies/Procedures/Standards.
Reporting any non-conformances to Company Policies/Procedures/Standards and supporting corrective action activities.
Supporting the delivery of key performance indicators for the Factory linked to Safety, Quality, People, Delivery, and Cost Standards.
Pro-actively identifying areas for continuous improvement within the production work environment/equipment/systems.
Demonstrating a willingness to develop within the role to achieve Excellent Competency Levels.

Role Competency:

Safety:

Competent at completing safety device system checks and isolation activities and
immediately reporting any non-conformances and food safety concerns.
Competent at identifying and arranging permit to work documentation, reviewing safe system of work documentation, completing dynamic risk assessments or using the STAR process to mitigate emerging hazards (Stop, Think, Act, Review - Behavioural Safety).
Competent at completing contractor control processes.
Specialist knowledge (e.g. ammonia plant / legionella management), LOTO, Working safely.
Participation in key safe behaviour conversations, the Factory safety observation system, and area risk assessments.
Ensure all personal mandatory safety requirements are met.

Quality:

Competent at completing documentation / SAP / CMMS entries.
Competent at complying with Engineering Standards / GMP / HACCP.
Adheres to change control processes.
Awareness of critical calibrations (PM's), apply right first time engineering standards to all.

People:

Qualified Mechanical and Electrical Engineer with FMCG experience (Over 2 years FMCG experience).
Compliant with mandatory training - plant/factory and role specific. Provides buddying training to other Team Members.
Supports the creation and training of area specific SOPs.
Work collaboratively with all teams.

Delivery:

Multi-skilled: electrical and mechanical.
Supports the team to deliver the engineering KPI's to support the manufacturing KPI's.
Takes responsibility for the delivery of asset reliability and problem rectification.
Able to fault find and rectify for majority of faults. Situational escalation of issues.
Can complete root cause analysis investigations - can define the problem, identify the root cause and implement corrective actions. (with guidance).
Competent at basic machine/equipment operation and recognised subject matter expert for one machine group.
Is a competent user of the OEE system and can identify major loss areas. Creates effective MME improvement plans and manages to completion (with support).
Can support planned maintenance criticality and PM review methodology.
Supports the delivery of shutdowns and machine/equipment overhaul activities, supervising OEM performance, and ensuring completion on time and in scope with effective handover to production.
Proven experience, effective handover shift to shift (pass the baton).
Good works order close off and correct level of detail, autonomous, can identify critical spares required.

Cost:

Makes cost effective decision, proactively carries out service repairs of parts and identifies equipment modifications to improve MME and OEE performance.
Identifies and proposes solutions to engineering practices / equipment issues which are resulting in increased waste or negatively impacting energy efficiency.
Pre service review to find opportunities to improve and reduce leaks etc.

This role is working on a continental shift pattern consisting of 2 weeks on days and 2 weeks on nights, 42 hours per week on average. The working hours are 6am - 6pm and then 6pm - 6am (12 hour shifts).

The annual salary is £53,272.96
