Business Development Manager, Private Equity (12 Month FTC) - Premier Global Law Firm

Posted by Leighton Taylor Consulting.

A big-hitting global legal firm is looking for a commercial and ambitious individual with a proven track record working as a business development professional to join its dynamic business development team. You will take responsibility for the provision of strategic business development support for components of the Private Equity group, spanning both M&A and Debt Finance, on a 12 month fixed term contract basis to cover a period of maternity leave.

The firm's highly regarded business development, marketing and communications team is integral to the setting and achievement of the firm's business objectives, which includes supporting partners and associates in their pursuit of becoming clients' trusted advisers, building and maintaining long-lasting, deep institutional client relationships, winning new clients, increasing the visibility of the firm globally and positioning the firm as the thought leader and most advanced law firm among the global elite. The function works as one team across the globe with very close collaboration between the central groups, such as communications and events, and the professionals working in local offices, practice groups, sectors and clients. You will be providing practice, product and sector coverage in an area of strategic importance for the firm that is growing rapidly and will need to articulate the key issues facing the sector and the implications of these for the firm. The role will require a 'hands-on' approach to marketing and BD and a deftness in achieving results through detailed work and in building relationships and influence within the group will be essential to success. You will work closely with the partners to develop and implement the business development strategy and provide focus to the delivery and direction of BD activities, playing a key influencing role in partner meetings, bringing ideas forward and implementing and executing projects. Main duties will include working with lead partners on their client development plans; leading pitches for the relevant product areas and contributing market insight into cross-practice and cross-border pitches. On the marketing side, the Business Development Manager will coordinate practical marketing support for profile-raising activities, such as speaking at industry conferences, thought leadership and events, webinars and hospitality.

Proactive, creative and tenacious, the ideal candidate will have substantial relevant business development and marketing experience at Manager level within a professional services organisation, to include demonstrable success in working with the management of individual practice or service lines and a proven track record of achieving product-line business objectives. With a high attention to detail and strong client focus, the Business Development Manager will enjoy working to deadlines, juggling multiple projects and delivering under pressure, and will require excellent communication and persuasion skills in order to motivate fee-earners to deliver business goals. A genuine interest and enthusiasm to develop an in-depth understanding of the Private Capital and Private Equity sector, in terms of the deals, key players, competition and an understanding of the designation market on debt transactions will also be essential.
