This role has a starting salary of £29,697 per annum, based on a 36 hour working week. As you progress through your career in the role your salary could increase up to £38,585 per annum.

About the Team
The Traffic Regulation Orders Team provide a legal service throughout Highways Operations & Infrastructure Directorate by promoting and producing temporary and permanent Traffic Regulation Orders and Notices for works on the Surrey Road Network. The team supports not only Surrey County Council works, but Statutory Undertakers and other Agencies. Our aim is to provide a professional, efficient and cost effective service to the Council. The Team ensures that the Council is protected in its legal duty and that all Traffic Regulation Orders and Notices are in place prior to any works being carried out on the Highway.
About the Role
As a Traffic Regulation Orders Assistant, you will be responsible for making Temporary Traffic Orders and Notices under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. You will be required to develop accurate drafting skills for the required Statutory Notices and Orders which will are time sensitive. You will also be required to develop relationships within the Team and the Traffic Orders requesting officers, advertising agency and the Roadclosures Team.
Shortlisting Criteria
To be considered for shortlisting for this position, your application will clearly evidence the following:
- Experience using Word, Excel, Outlook and GIS mapping
- Able to prioritise and plan own workload in the context of conflicting priorities and work on own initiative
- Good written and oral communication skills with the ability to build sound relationships with other Teams
- Demonstrate an ability to understand the relevant legislation and the associated procedure regulations
