The Supply Register is currently working in partnership with Ark Acton Academy in Acton to find a qualified and experienced Head of Music to join their team from September 2024, or alternatively a teacher of Music who can grow in to a HoD/ an experienced HoD who could lead other creative arts (Art and Design and establish Drama as a subject for 25/26 launch)

About the role

You will lead our team of Music specialists to continue to develop our Music curriculum and enrichment offer to inspire our pupils to live a life enriched by music and to study music. You will ensure that teaching across the department establishes high expectations through strong routines, great relationships and the impactful delivery of our curriculum.

As well as the formal taught curriculum we are excited to hear about how you will buld on our already ambitious enrichment programme with the range of musical opportunities you want to deliver so every child at Ark Acton can find an instrument they are passionate about and can progress with beyond school. With state of the art music and performing arts facilities including a suite of practice rooms, music technology and recording spaces and a world class performance space we are set up to inspire a future generation of musical stars.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Experience of raising attainment in your subject area
  • Experience of leading a team and/or developing others
  • Experience of having designed, implemented and evaluated effective, imaginative and stimulating Schemes of Work
  • Experience of improving the quality of teaching and learning through the development of schemes of work and high-quality resources
  • Experience of leading successful enrichment which inspire and motivate learners
  • Experience of interpreting complex student data to drive lesson planning and student progress
  • Excellent understanding of both subject and general teaching pedagogy
  • Effective and systematic behaviour management
  • Knowledge of the national secondary education system, examinations and curriculum

Requirments

  • Qualified to teach and work in the UK
  • Degree in an applicable subject
  • Outstanding musicianship – ability to perform and inspire with at least one instrument and or vocals
  • Must be able to provide 24 months worth of professional references
