Electrical Maintenance Engineer Required: Immediate Start
We have a new role for an Electrical Building Maintenance Engineer in the CV2 postcode area (exact location TBC) within the Estates & Facilities team.
Rate of pay: Negotiable
Contract Length: 3 months (potentially longer)
Shift Pattern: 7am-7pm, 4 days on - 4 days off
Role requires a full, clean UK driving licence and involves travelling between sites.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- To participate in the provision of an Estates service primarily undertaking day-to-day reactive repairs, planned maintenance, installation, and minor improvements. It will be anticipated that some general building repair duties will also be required to be undertaken.
- The post holder will be required to carry out small works as required. Plan, set out, manufacture, assemble, erect, and install new works utilising relevant drawings, specifications, instruments, machinery, tools, and equipment. Test, certify and commission services and equipment upon completion. Assist in developing cost plans for small works with the P&ED team as required.
- Undertake the planned preventative maintenance of complex plant, equipment and services following both manufacturers and local procedures guidelines.
- Provide and receive technical guidance, support and assistance in the repair and maintenance of both electrical and mechanical faults on complex plant, services, and equipment as appropriate.
- Analyse, diagnose and repair faults on plant, equipment for both electrical and mechanical services. This involves using your own initiative to determine the most effective solution to fault find and problem solve technical issues as required.
- Investigate estates systems to identify problems and faults to achieve effective and timely rectification.
- Participation in the Estates emergency on-call rota or any other rota as required to meet the service demands.
- To follow all the Trust Policies and Safe Working Procedures.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 or HNC in Electrical Engineering or Building Services, and ideally (but not essentially) possessing City & Guilds 18th Edition.
- Completion of an apprenticeship in an electrical and/or building engineering discipline.
- Significant on-the-job experience in building maintenance with familiarity with electrical distribution, electrical lighting systems and possess the ability to turn your hand with related trades disciplines, such as basic joinery or plumbing where needed.
- Previous experience in working in a highly reactive environment.
- Ability to travel between sites.
- Health & Safety Awareness.
- Great communication and well-developed personal skills and the ability to prioritise own workload without supervision when needed.
