Speech and Language Therapist - Dysphasia

Ackerman Pierce are looking for an enthusiastic Dysphagia trained Speech and Language Therapist to provide care to community patients.

Need to be Dysphagia trained, experience at Feeding at Risk, palliative care, elderly.

What you will be doing:

  • Community based seeing patients own home and care homes.
  • 3 news a day / 4 FU a day or combination. Up to 5 per day a mixture of News and FU.
  • Discharged as soon as possible. Average of between 2-5 appointments per patients. Up to 6 week pathway.
  • Will get laptop, mobile. Can collect thickener and adaptive cutlery from base.

Appointment:

Obtain history, speak to family / patient / carer. Eating and drinking assessment. Agree plan, educate patient and carer, agree a review period. Complete recommendation sheet and give to patient. Send recommendation sheet by email to care home.

Salary: £350/Day

What you'll need as a Speech Language Therapist:

  • Specialist knowledge acquired through degree or equivalent qualifications, including further theoretical training and experience to Master's level equivalent in required speciality
  • Continued Professional Development evidenced by attendance at short specialist postgraduate courses to maintain and develop own specialist knowledge and expertise.
  • Recognised Speech & Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent (Post Graduate Diploma or MSc in Speech & Language Therapy leading to registration with HCPC)
  • HCPC Licence to Practice, Registered member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists, Membership of relevant CEN
  • 6 months of paid patient facing UK nursing experience from within the past 3 years
  • Up-to-date clinical best practice knowledge
  • The right to work in the UK
