Role Overview

We are currently recruiting for a Business Director to join our passionate and driven team to lead our growth plans for our structured cabling and networks business across the UK.

The Business Director will join the senior leadership team within OCS Hard Services Projects division and will be responsible for the leadership, P&L, development and delivery of the structured cabling and networks business Projects business across the UK. This business currently operates out of our Edinburgh office but we have plans to significantly grow this business across the UK, particularly in London. So extensive travel will be required up and down the UK. The location for the role is flexible.

The structured cabling and networks business currently predominately operates on a small scale from Edinburgh but works across the UK and is now ready for significant growth. The aim is it will operate across public and private sectors, delivering a mix of structured cabling and network projects. Part of our growth plan is to identify new sectors and opportunities and the Business Director will be expected to lead and deliver on this. Individual Project sizes currently range from £5K up to £1M, however, this is expected to change as the business grows.

The successful candidate will be the appointed director responsible for the health, safety, wellbeing and profitability of the structured cabling and networks business.

The successful candidate will hold and maintain positive executive customer relationships, support business growth opportunities, and strongly collaborate with national colleagues to deliver a positive, proactive, and progressive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, inspiration, and control of the business unit
  • Full P&L responsibility for the structured cabling and networks business unit.
  • Developing and implementing the business Strategy, ensuring it is aligned with the overall Projects, Hard Services and company strategy. Actively participate in development of the Strategy.
  • Leading significant profitable and sustainable growth for the business unit, across the UK covering a mutli Project portfolio.
  • Overall responsibility for the day to day development and running of the structured cabling and networks business
  • Securing the workload for the business from existing and new client base and maximising cross selling across the OCS group.
  • Leading the retention of existing Clients and the development of new clients, whether internal or external.
  • Identifying and securing the company a place on relevant frameworks.
  • Ensuring the Health and Safety of our workforce, our Clients and the general public.
  • Ensuring that our projects are as profitable as possible whilst maintaining high levels of quality and improving client satisfaction.
  • Developing our People.
  • Working with other Directors to maximise our business, including company cross selling opportunities and ensuring the best utilisation of resource.
  • Lead by example in culture of safety, opportunity, inclusiveness, and diversity
  • Deliver projects built on leading edge technical engineering standards, solutions and technology
  • Champion of SME engagement, circular economy and experience in local community support initiatives
  • Commercially astute, delivering contracts within combination of framework contracts such as NEC4.
  • Maximise the potential of OCS, leverage relationships and implement solutions which drive productivity and service enhancements
  • Ensure that the proejcts team are provided with the necessary levels of support from the wider OCS team.
  • Ensure the business operates in compliance with OCS business processes, procedures and policies.

About You:

  • Applicants must have the right to work in the UK
  • Extensive experience of working in a similar role for a Hard Services / M&E / Structured cabling / Networks provider.
  • Demonstrable track record of operating in the public and private sectors, including frameworks.
