Facilities Manager - Local Authority

Reed Public Sector is actively recruiting for a Facilities Manager for a Local authority in Berkshire

The Facilities Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running, management and health and safety of the buildings and land within the Council's property portfolio, ensuring that all users of council properties encounter an excellent standard of presentation of the buildings whilst experiencing a safe and secure environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all Council buildings and property remain within the latest government regulations of environmental, health and security standards and comply with all Health and Safety best practice.
  • Ensure buildings are presented to a high standard at all times, including working with Front of House staff as required to support bookings and to play a part in maintaining excellent standards of customer care.
  • Drawing up specifications, tenders, and quotations for a variety of projects. Identifying suitable contractors and service providers. Manage all projects in conjunction with the Clerk and/or Deputy Clerk. Make recommendations to the Council for approval.
  • Manage all building maintenance activities including routine and periodic requirements, cleaning contracts for all council buildings and an overall long-term maintenance plan.
  • Obtain quotations for any additional maintenance work as needed in accordance with the Council's Financial Regulations and recommend to Council for approval.

Education and Qualifications

  • Have or be working towards a facilities management or other relevant qualification
  • Able to demonstrate a reasonable level of general education.
  • Should be computer literate able to use basic office programs including the council's booking system.
  • Full driving license with willingness to drive Parish Council vehicles including a van.

Professionalism

  • Able to demonstrate a clear understanding of and commitment to Health & Safety and a willingness to undertake training to ensure effective delivery of such

Experience of managing staff and other

  • Proven experience of managing a range of staff effectively
  • Proven experience of managing contractors

Experience and Knowledge

  • Experience of managing buildings, particularly those available for hire
  • Experience of managing sports facilities
  • Experience of carrying out a wide range of handyman duties, including decorating and minor maintenance works.
