A prominent company in the public sector marketplace is seeking a dynamic New Business Account Manager to join their team. They are looking for a motivated individual to engage and develop relationships with local government customers and supporting agencies in London, the South-East, and East of England.

Role: New Business Account Manager

Location: London, South-East, and East of England

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement account capture and development plans for new and existing clients, ensuring structured engagement and business growth.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with clients, understanding their business, regional initiatives, and networks.
  • Establish and manage a strong pipeline of qualified business opportunities, understanding customer buying criteria and processes.
  • Serve as the client's primary contact, assisting in IT strategy formation, and providing access to senior management and subject matter experts.
  • Provide proactive value and thought leadership to customers on technology and sector trends, establishing the company as a strategic partner.
  • Leverage existing frameworks to facilitate direct awards, sole source contracts, and expedite contracting processes.
  • Develop investment/efficiency ROI models to demonstrate financial benefits to clients.
  • Collaborate with strategic partners and vendors to leverage opportunities and stakeholder networks.
  • Manage the wider commercial relationship, including aged debt, payment, and business conditions.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Act as a client champion to enhance customer experience.
  • Encourage the adoption of new products and services.
  • Support the regional sales strategy, including investment and partner engagement.
  • Communicate the benefits of working with the company in terms of social value.

Ideal Candidate:

  • 5-10 years of local government sales experience, with the ability to build trust and inspire clients.
  • Proven track record of winning new local government contracts in a competitive environment.
  • Established stakeholder relationships within local governments in London, the South-East, and East of England.
  • Expertise in business development and shaping multiple opportunities.
  • Strong understanding of IT, digital, and data requirements in the local government sector.
  • Experience with Microsoft, Cisco, and AWS technologies.
  • Familiarity with public sector frameworks and the Crown Commercial Service.
  • Proficiency in developing pricing/business case models with effective benefits management.
  • Excellent planning, communication, and presentation skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of the structure, skills, and business environment of local government organizations.
  • Customer-focused with a professional services orientation.
  • Ability to quickly understand customer organizations and requirements.
