Job Title: Learning Mentor for Alternative Provision

Location: Tower Hamlets Borough

Type: Full-time, Temporary (September start until the end of the academic year)

Salary: Competitive, commensurate with experience

About Us: We are an alternative provision school located in the vibrant Tower Hamlets Borough, committed to providing a nurturing and inclusive learning environment for students facing social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges. Our students, who have either been expelled or are unable to access the standard curriculum, require dedicated professionals to guide them on their educational journey.

Position Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Learning Mentor to join our team starting in September. The ideal candidate will play a key role in supporting students' educational development, focusing on addressing their social, emotional, and mental health needs. This is a temporary position that will last for the duration of the academic year.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, addressing academic and behavioural needs.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of personalized learning plans for students with SEMH needs.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment through mentorship and guidance.
  • Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure a comprehensive approach to student development.
  • Monitor and record student progress, adapting support strategies to meet individual needs.
  • Work closely with the school's leadership team to contribute to the overall educational and emotional well-being of students.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Learning Mentor or similar role in an educational setting.
  • Understanding of effective mentoring and support strategies for students with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A positive and adaptable attitude in addressing various learning challenges.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, counseling, or a related field.
