My client is a Top Tier firm who have practices across the UK they are looking for a qualified Solicitor who Is an expert in Risk Management. You must be able to drive and access multiple offices across the Cheshire area.

The role is to work in house within the firm to cover Quality and Risk, to departments to provide a range of legal support across the business including dealing with complaints, professional indemnity circumstances, data protection and anti-money laundering.

The role / Responsibilities will include:

  • Complaints: Dealing with client complaints in accordance with the firm's Complaint Procedure. This will involve:
  • liaising with the complainant and internal members of staff
  • investigating the complaint and providing an appropriate response to the complaint
  • maintaining the firm's complaint records
  • From time to time, it may also involve dealing with the Legal Ombudsman in the event that a complaint is escalated to them
  • Professional Negligence Circumstances: Dealing with notifications of potential and actual instances of professional negligence that arise within the firm. This will involve:
  • Investigating and establishing the facts of any reported circumstance
  • Advising and providing appropriate assistance on the steps to be taken to deal with the circumstances
  • Advising on potential conflict and pre-action protocol
  • Maintaining the firm's professional indemnity records
  • Data Protection: Providing advice and guidance on compliance with Data Protection regulations.
  • Advising on Data Protection Impact Assessments
  • Providing advice and guidance to the firm's GDPR team in relation to:
  • Money Laundering: Acting as one of the firm's Deputy Money Laundering Reporting Officers. receiving and undertaking initial consideration of internal suspicious activity reports (SARs) Working as MLRO and COLP as part of the position.
  • Prepare for external audits, including any undertaken by the SRA
  • Responding to AML system related enquiries made by third parties

Skills & Qualifications

  • Qualified Solicitor with authority to practice in England and Wales
  • Experience in advising on SRA conflict of interest
  • MLRO or Colp (OR Both) experience
  • Knowledge and experience of UK GDPR
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to build relationships and all levels
