We are seeking a dedicated Placement Officer to join our client's children's commissioning brokerage team. This role is crucial in finding suitable placements for children in care, ensuring their safety and well-being. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in service brokering within child care settings and must possess excellent negotiation and communication skills.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Broker services for young people using an existing framework, including Children's Residential Homes, Independent Fostering Agencies, Children's Supported Accommodation, Independent Specialist School Placements, and Short Break and Domiciliary Care Packages.
  • Negotiate with providers to achieve the best value while ensuring the best outcomes for the young people of Leicestershire.
  • Work under pressure on a fast-paced, busy duty desk where no two days are the same, demonstrating flexibility and the ability to work out of hours in emergencies.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Previous experience using Mosaic is absolutely essential.
  • Professional experience or familiarity with settings such as Children's Residential Homes, Independent Fostering Agencies, and others mentioned above.
  • Understanding of the current markets in relation to the support being brokered.
  • Knowledge of working with and meeting the needs of children and young people with complex needs, including Children in Care and those with Special Education Needs and Disabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, tenacity, and emotional resilience.
  • Strong literacy skills with an ability to proofread referrals and challenge the quality of referrals to ensure the right placement the first time.
  • Full understanding of desired outcomes to ensure meaningful activities for young people and respite for families/carers.
