About the role

Hargreaves Lansdown is undergoing a technology transformation. As part of this journey, we are creating a Hybrid Cloud Team that will transform our Infrastructure Estate and move HL towards a hybrid cloud deployment, using VMWare, AWS and Azure.

As a Hybrid Cloud Engineer, you will leverage the latest technologies to provide a platform for internal consumption by various HL teams to provide a customer centric solution. You will be managing the existing on-premise infrastructure estate and assisting with the migration of services to AWS. HL offers great exposure to learning new technologies as they are released and deploying them in pilot environments, and delivering them to all colleagues. We also offer some excellent training packages for both on-premise and AWS.

What you'll be doing

  • Work collaboratively to deliver projects in a timely and organised manner.
  • Seek innovative solutions, improvements, enhancements and automation wherever possible.
  • Monitoring and management of AWS, VMware, Compute, Storage and Backup estates including participation in the on- call rota.
  • Act as point of contact from any datacentre operations tasks.
  • Proactively troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Driving, managing and operating processes to ensure performance, capacity and availability are managed effectively to exceed business objectives.
  • Occasional out of hours work for updates, incidents and fixes is expected.

As an Engineer, within your SME technology remit, you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting Incident/ Major Incident and Problem Management
  • The ongoing management and optimisation of monitoring and alerting services
  • Creating and managing Technical IT documentation
  • End-end ownership of our technologies we deploy, from initial inception through to deploy/configure and support.

About you

  • Experience working in an environment supporting VMware vSphere productions.
  • Knowledge of supporting on-premise compute platforms (Lenovo, Dell), enterprise storage and backup solutions.
  • Management of system monitoring technologies (SolarWinds, Opsview, Nagios, Grafana)
  • Working in a change-controlled environment.
  • Technical Documentation.
  • Planning, installation and support of physical equipment within the Data Centre with attention to detail around cabling.
  • Troubleshoot issues within the data centre and physical infrastructure
  • Methodical thinker, problem solver
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Collaborative, keen to share knowledge.

Interview process

This will be a two-stage interview process, consisting of an introductory conversation and competency based interview.

Working Schedule

This role requires full office coverage over two positions. This role is permanent, full time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
