You will be responsible for quality control, ensuring compliance with fire safety standards and managing documentation throughout the project's lifecycle, with particular attention to the Golden Thread of information. While your primary focus will be on quality management, the role also demands agility and flexibility to step into operational tasks as needed. Working in a fast-paced project environment, you will need a can-do attitude, collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of the project. You will be expected to respond proactively to evolving project needs, which may include working out-of-hours or on weekends when necessary to ensure deadlines are met.

Role Purpose:

  • Your contribution will be to provide technical expertise in managing the quality of the delivery of a high-profile re-cladding project to a high-rise residential property. You will be experienced in fire safety concerning cladding and curtain wall design.
  • The role requires creative and innovative input across various building components, including administrative and contract management skills, while managing internal colleagues and external contractors.
  • You will work in a frontline environment with residents, understanding and addressing their specific needs, particularly those who are vulnerable, elderly, or disabled.
  • You will monitor and evaluate the delivery of works in collaboration with Officers, Team Leaders, Heads of Service, Senior Officers, and elected members to ensure that the project's systems and processes mitigate the impact on residents.
  • You will have a major responsibility for overseeing the quality of delivery and its impact on fire safety, leading the project's delivery improvement efforts through collaboration based on performance data.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Quality Control & Expertise:

  • Provide technical expertise in cladding systems, ensuring that all installations meet Camden's stringent fire safety and quality standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections and ensure compliance with building codes, regulations, and fire safety protocols.
  • Evaluate contractor performance, ensuring that all work is delivered to the highest standard and promptly addressing any defects or non-conformances.

2. Role Flexibility & Operational Support:

  • Be prepared to step in and support operational tasks as required, beyond the primary scope of quality control. This could include assisting with coordination of resident engagement, managing on-site logistics, or handling urgent project needs.
  • The role demands agility and a proactive approach, ensuring project progress is maintained by addressing emerging needs swiftly and efficiently, even if this requires working out-of-hours or weekends.

3. Documentation & Golden Thread:

  • Ensure the Golden Thread of information is maintained throughout the project, particularly as it reaches its final phase.
  • Oversee the completion and organization of project documentation, ensuring that all quality records, certifications, and compliance reports are systematically recorded and stored.
  • Assist the project team in ensuring all necessary paperwork is in place, particularly related to fire safety and regulatory compliance.

4. Fire Safety & Resident Impact:

  • Oversee and monitor the quality and safety of the cladding systems, ensuring that fire safety regulations are strictly adhered to and resident safety is prioritized.
  • Proactively engage with residents, understanding their concerns and ensuring minimal disruption, especially for vulnerable or elderly residents.

5. Collaborative Working:

  • Work closely with contractors and Camden teams to ensure quality standards are upheld, and health and safety regulations are rigorously followed.
  • Lead quality assurance initiatives throughout the project, collaborating with internal colleagues and external contractors to implement continuous improvement measures.

Example Outcomes or Objectives:

  • Work flexibly and creatively with senior management to ensure that all works are delivered to the required standard, managing the end-to-end work schedule to deliver a solution that is fit for purpose and meets both current safety standards and resident needs.
  • Be responsible for autonomous decision-making, ensuring effective judgments are made about the quality of works, cost management, and project timelines, all while responding to changing project deadlines.
  • Work with contractors and cross-departmental teams to manage the delivery of the works to the required quality, timescales, and budget.
  • Develop and maintain a reporting regime that effectively monitors quality and contractor compliance, ensuring all performance data is used to drive continuous improvements.
  • Solve ongoing challenges creatively, thinking beyond existing systems and processes to ensure that issues are addressed promptly and efficiently.
  • Monitor and evaluate both individual practices of contractors and the overall service delivery to ensure that quality standards are met consistently.
  • Take a resident-focused approach, considering the varying needs of Camden's tenants, ensuring that their concerns are addressed, and their safety and comfort are prioritized throughout the project.
