Hays Recruitment are recruiting for an exciting opportunity as a Senior Quality Engineer with our client, a leading manufacturer and distributor in the electrical products sector. Specialising in wiring accessories, LED lighting, safety alarms, and cables, the client has established itself as a trusted name with a turnover of several million in the UK. They are known for their commitment to quality and innovation, supplying products that are widely specified by housing developers and distributed through electrical wholesalers.

Your new role
In your capacity as a Senior Quality Engineer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing product quality. You'll be responsible for monitoring product performance, investigating quality issues, and collaborating with engineering teams to implement effective solutions. This role involves managing quality assurance processes and overseeing various inspections and audits, ensuring that the clients' products consistently meet and exceed industry standards.
The role will be office based, working 37.5hrs per week.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring product quality and reporting to the Management Team.
  • Investigating product quality issues to establish root causes and liaising with Product Engineers and the factory to implement improvements.
  • Timely resolution of quality issues through robust root cause analysis and implementation of permanent and preventative corrective actions.
  • Providing Quality Engineering support for the development of FMEA's, quality control, and test plans as part of the product Life Cycle Management process.
  • Reviewing customer complaints as necessary.
  • Managing Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDI), including factory self PDI's, the clients China Quality Engineers, and 3rd Party PDI's.
  • Managing and undertaking Goods Inwards (GI) inspections to ensure product specifications are met.
  • Quality control of products being reworked, writing rework instructions, and ensuring adherence.
  • Managing factory desktop or 3rd party audits, including ethical audits, and instructing the Far East team in factories manufacturing the products.
  • Leading the management of Quality Assurance and ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 Management Systems.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this position, you will need:

  • A strong background in Quality Engineering and Quality Assurance, ideally within the electrical sector.
  • Familiarity with both electrical and mechanical disciplines.
  • Proficiency in report writing, particularly in creating 8D reports to communicate findings effectively.
  • Experience with electrical installation products will be a distinct advantage.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, combined with a methodical and organised mindset.
