The newly created role of Associate Director of People Planning is a critical component in making that happen, bringing the necessary focus and expertise to our people transformation programmes and plans over the next 2 years.

As the Associate Director of People Planning, you will take a central role in establishing our approach to and enabling the delivery of the transformation of our people systems, processes and practices, translating our vision and strategy into action. Using your expertise in planning and change management, you'll create the foundations for the People directorate to deliver. You will take a lead on the programme management of our People agenda, bringing structure to our approach, and creating lasting frameworks that easily transfer to business as usual in 2 years' time.

Introducing multi-year planning and budgeting and establishing strategic workforce planning are initial priorities, allowing us to build skills for the future and increase the diversity of our workforce to reflect the communities we seek to support. As Associate Director for People Planning you will also ensure we optimise investment in technology, improving effectiveness and enabling a one stop digital experience, and easy access to real time people insights.

As a member of the People Leadership Team, you will work collaboratively across the People Directorate, contributing to the People strategy, and role modelling high engagement change, to create an inclusive and high-performance culture. You will also have a collective corporate accountability as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, being a trusted advisor and agent of change for the Society overall. Working across the organisation, you will lead, plan and drive the successful implementation of our People programmes.

This is a homeworking role, but you may be required to travel to attend meetings, events and team-days, so you must reside in the UK, have the correct right to work documents to work in the UK and be comfortable/willing to travel to our offices (London or Birmingham) if/when required.

About you

We're looking for an inspirational leader with the ability to influence and deliver through others. You will be curious, with a hunger for innovation, along with having a track record of engaging, mobilising and energising teams around people change.

You are a collaborative and pragmatic professional, with a background in HR leadership, who can translate strategy into actionable plans in a complex environment. You will bring;

  • Proven experience of planning and delivering organisation wide change, that positively impacts key performance measures, including culture and engagement.
  • Expertise in planning and delivering people transformation programmes
  • Experience of introducing and embedding people tools and systems, ideally including strategic workforce planning.
  • Knowledge of people systems and technology and experience of leading people system changes that enable cultural change and enhanced experience
  • Planning and/or project management experience within a People function
  • Highly experienced in collaborating with a range of diverse teams and stakeholders in a complex organisation.
