Consortium are looking to recruit a Field Service Engineer to join a well-established and growing SME based in Lincolnshire. The business pride themselves on strong values and offer a partnership and consultative approach to their clients. Location:

The site is based in Lincolnshire, but the role will cover the whole of the UK and will also include some trips to Europe. The successful post holder can live anywhere in Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire as long as they are committed to travelling to customers sites.

Description:

The Field Service Engineer will be responsible for carrying out scheduled and reactive service work, audits, and installations on packaging machinery. This position involves extensive national travel (3-5 days a week) with occasional trips to Europe.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Service and Maintenance: Perform scheduled service checks and reactive maintenance on packaging machinery across various client sites.
  • Equipment Audits: Conduct detailed audits of production lines, identifying areas for improvement and suggesting upgrades.
  • Troubleshooting and Diagnostics: Diagnose and troubleshoot issues on-site, utilizing your expertise in PLC interrogation and multi-skilled engineering.
  • Customer Support: Provide expert technical support to clients, running trials, optimising equipment setups, and improving overall equipment effectiveness using best practice and company SOPs
  • Reporting: Prepare accurate, timely reports and present findings to clients, outlining recommended improvements and setting up agreed-upon upgrade timelines.
  • Emergency Repairs: Respond to paid customer callouts to diagnose, identify parts, and repair machinery efficiently.

Requirements:

  • Multi-Skilled Expertise: Strong background in both mechanical and electrical engineering, with hands-on experience in a field service role.
  • Engineering Qualifications: A formal qualification in Engineering (e.g., HNC, HND, or equivalent).
  • PLC Knowledge: Ability to interrogate and troubleshoot PLC systems as part of your diagnostic and repair processes.
  • Industry Experience: Previous experience within the packaging industry or a related field is highly beneficial.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: A hands-on approach with a strong ability to diagnose issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to travel extensively within the UK and to Europe when needed. Full driving license with no more than 6 points and passport is essential.
  • Benefits:
  • Expected earnings to be 55k-60k which includes company bonus, staying away bonuses and overtime
  • Company van provided which includes personal use
  • Monday-Friday schedule with very few weekends expected
  • Intensive product training in the first few months
