Technical Director Infrastructure Planning

Due to the growth of our West Region, we have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Director to join our leadership team. You will report to the Regional Director and provide leadership, governance, and direction to contribute to the success of business plans and strategies. The role involves ensuring that the aspirations and needs of stakeholders, including customers, internal clients, and employees, are met.

What you will be doing:

  • Establish and maintain relationships with key clients, adopting a collaborative partnership approach and negotiate with internal and external business partners, clients, and customers
  • Deliver and contribute to the success of business plans and strategies, developing, tracking, and securing new opportunities in the public and private sectors that will enable the West Region team to meet growth aspirations
  • Lead and mentor direct reports and teams of consultants to support project delivery
  • Manage programmes of work and deliver expert technical support, input, and services in the delivery of projects from inception to completion.
  • Prepare and assist with bid submissions for new work that enable the business to meet growth aspirations.
  • Provide commercial management, project programming, resource management, risk assessment, quality checking and delivery management, including authorisation of project work.
  • Proactively recruit and develop quality resources and assist in the management of resources and service delivery cross-regionally, working closely with other service leads. Arrange and attend formal and regular liaison meetings with colleagues to assist in the coordination of resources and activities across the company.
  • Support regional financial performance through management of key accounts, debt management, project oversight, staff resourcing, resource scheduling and pipeline analysis.

What we are looking for:

  • Working knowledge of relevant legislation, planning policy, guides and design standards relating to flood risk management and drainage strategies.
  • Knowledge and experience of financial management for significant project and programme values. Demonstrable business/commercial management skills of small to large project.
  • Degree or equivalent
  • Professional membership with industry body
