Assistant Business Partner (Service Charge)

RM Recruit have partnered up with a Birmingham based third sector client who are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Business Partner (Service Charge) to join their dynamic finance team on a full-time, 3-6-month ongoing contract basis. The ideal candidate will be immediately available or available on short notice.

Our client is able to offer a hybrid working arrangement with the office presence set at three times per week and two days working from home.

Responsibilities include:

  • Stay current with service charge guidelines and best practices.
  • Develop a robust, consistent process for gathering service charge budgets from managers across the business. Use this data to calculate service charges for each property and establish an approval process for housing to confirm these budgets.
  • Collaborate with the wider business to ensure the accuracy of service charge expenditures at the scheme level.
  • Ensure CRM is updated with precise service charge information.
  • Provide data to ensure accurate and timely service charge letters.
  • Lead the leaseholder audit each July/August, ensuring accurate information for precise leaseholder statements.
  • Ensuring accurate interface between CRM and SUN to enable monthly reporting of rents, service charges, voids, bad debts, and arrears.
  • Signing off the monthly reconciliation process to identify any discrepancies in posting rents to CRM
  • Work with Technical Services to establish sinking fund requirements.
  • Manage transfers and reconciliation of sinking fund balances and the sinking fund bank account

The ideal candidate will be part-qualified in CIMA/ACCA or have equivalent experience, with a solid background in a similar accounting role based around service charge. You will possess a good understanding of rent and service charge regulation. Candidates with prior experience using SUN accounts or CRM are of high interest to our client. Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail are essential, along with strong communication and interpersonal abilities. The ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure, combined with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement, is key to success in this role. The successful candidate will be subject to a DBS check upon appointment.
