Project Manager - 18 months + (Fixed Term Contract)

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager
Based in: Wilton
Salary: Negotiable - Whilst all salaries are graded, Sembcorp are keen to attract, retain and develop the highest calibre of colleague. The company also offer a market leading benefits package and annual bonus.

Position overview:
The Project Manager is a key part of the Project Delivery Team, leading projects from concept through sanction, design, execution, and commissioning. The role holder is responsible for the successful delivery of each project ensuring all are completed on time, within budget, to a high standard and in a safe manner.
Sembcorp has a new contract for a company to install new infrastructure on its land and requires a Project Manager to lead a small team to be the contractual focal point, ensure that project deliverables are met by all parties, including formal reviews of detailed design, attending and representing SembCorp in regular meetings, developing plans for the investigation works and site construction.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead a culture of safety first.
  • Formulate strategies and operational plans for each project.
  • Lead each project ensuring good communication with all stakeholders and progress is inline with the business requirements.
  • Make strategic decisions in a timely manner and providing leadership and direction to project team members to implement those decisions.
  • Be commercially aware and adhere to commercial governance in all activities
  • Evaluate and manage risks on each project to avoid delays or reputational damage.
  • Define project scope, deliverables and project objectives.
  • Develop project cost estimate, including risk allowance and manage this throughout the project delivery.
  • Manage costs to meet defined project budget.
  • Develop an alternate course of action for completing a job should the initial plan fail.
  • Contracting with outside agencies for support on a need basis
  • Support the development of detailed project schedules and manage each plan to completion.
  • Provide regular project updates to stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress.
  • Manage contracts with vendors and suppliers by assigning tasks and communicating expected deliverables.
  • Utilise industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout entire project execution.
  • Measure project performance to identify areas for improvement.

Essential:

  • Experience in power/utilities/petrochemical/oil & gas industries
  • Strong communication including writing reports, contractual correspondences, etc
  • Excellent Negotiation Skills
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles.
  • Strong understanding of Project management principles
  • In depth knowledge and experience in development of project execution and contracting strategy of small to very large projects.
  • Possesses superior organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects with shifting deadlines

  • Competency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is a must.
  • A full driving licence is required and a right to work in the UK is essential.

Desirable

  • Bachelor's degree in any of the following engineering disciplines process/chemical/mechanical/piping/electrical.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
