Colindale, London - 18 month Contract

Day Rate £350 - £400

Blaymires Recruitment is representing a leading property and construction consultancy who is searching for a Freelance Clerk of Works to be based at Colindale, London for a duration of 18 months.

As Clerk of Works, you will be based on site at Colindale, London and will work with the project teams on various new-build and refurbishment projects. The role will involve regular site inspections on predominantly residential developments, checking the contractor's compliance with the contract drawings, specifications, building regulations and building warranty standards. The production of reports using tablet-based reporting systems will be required following each visit. You will carry out snagging inspections before Practical Completion and issue lists of identified defects.

The ideal candidate needs to possess formal qualifications in Fire Door Inspections and Passive Fire Protection and being a member of the Institute of Clerks of Works and Construction Inspectorate or equivalent, is also required.

This role will suit a Fire Protection Inspector or a Clerk of Works. Ability to demonstrate good understanding to Approve document B (Part B) and BS9999 of building standards in the inspection is required.

Qualifications and Experience of the Clerk of Works :

  • Proven experience in RC frameworks and high-rise building projects.
  • Experience of fire safety management, within the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of fire safety regulations, codes, and standards (e.g., NFPA, BS 9999, BS 9991).
  • Fire door inspections.

Skills of the Clerk of Works :

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify potential fire hazards.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in using fire safety inspection software and tools.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • MICWCI qualified or have the equivalent experience (IOB, CABE, RICS, IFE) an advantage.
  • Competent use of IT software particularly Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • Ideally, knowledge (and preferably a qualification) in fire stopping.
