ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT
REPORTING TO: Financial Controller
Working closely as part of a small team in this exciting SME on the outskirts of Colchester, the Assistant Accountant will support the Financial Controller in a range of reporting and general accounting tasks. The position is varied and can offer an increased scope of work as the individual progresses, with regular exposure to the CFO.
Responsible for:
- Purchase invoice processing (automated process) and supplier statement reconciliation
- Processing / reconciling of credit card transactions
- Calculation of prepayments/accruals and posting of journals
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Maintaining fixed asset register in conjunction with other departments
- Assisting with year-end audit preparation and tax analysis
Person specification:
- AAT Level 4 qualified/finalist or equivalent part qual ACA/ACCA.
- Background in accountancy practice/audit strongly preferred.
- Accurate, self-starting, conscientious, motivated, approachable.
- Able to demonstrate initiative and superb attention to detail.
- Minimum Basic Excel skills (further training support provided).
- Previous experience of Sage advantageous.
- Salary and role development commensurate with experience.
Salary: £25-30k dependent on qualifications and experience
Location & hours: Fully office based, Mon-Fri, 9am-5.30pm.
