PERMANENT FULL TIME OFFICE-BASED ROLE

I have partnered with a global entertainment company to recruit an experienced and proactive Payments Controller to take sole ownership of their end-to-end payment operations. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in Accounts Payable, who combines hands-on transaction management with strategic oversight of payment processes, cash flow, vendor relations, and process improvements. You must be AAT qualified/nearing qualification and be confident in your ability to play a critical role in ensuring financial accuracy, operational efficiency, and strong internal controls.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Execute and manage weekly payment runs, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare and maintain weekly payment schedules.
  • Post and allocate payments in the general ledger; ensure accuracy in financial records.
  • Post and reconcile cashbooks across multiple bank accounts.
  • Monitor daily cash positions and support short-term cash flow forecasting.
  • Support month-end close activities.
  • Ensure compliance with internal payment policies and payment controls.
  • Work closely with the Operations team to streamline PO-to-payment workflows.
  • Respond to and resolve internal and external payment queries.
  • Manage supplier bank details and bank details verification process.
  • Identify and lead initiatives to automate and streamline payment processes.
  • Collaborate with banking partners and monitor international transactions where applicable.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing relevant documentation and analysis.
  • Manage Payments inbox.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of experience in high-volume/high-value weekly payments (60-120 payments per week).
  • Must have experience managing UK and international payments in different currencies.
  • Strong understanding of payment cycles, banking processes, and financial systems.
  • Experience using payment portals like Barclays.Net highly desirable, but not essential.
  • Demonstrate high attention to detail, organisation, and communication skills.
  • Proven record of implementing strong payment controls and streamlining payment processes.
  • Must work independently and cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel – V & X Lookups, pivot tables and formulas
  • AAT qualification or studier
