Job Description

  • Contributing to strategic business planning and building financial budgets in accordance with strategies developed
  • Monitoring and interpreting cash flow positions and predicting future trends
  • Interpreting and presenting financial information, including management reporting in respect of financial performance, and using outputs to produce short- and long-term financial forecasts
  • Developing strong relationships with the commercial and operational business leaders, providing robust challenge, insight and support
  • Playing a critical role in ensuring financial and investment plans are aligned with business objectives and goals
  • Delivering the professionalisation of the finance function, ensuring a robust control framework that supports the growth of the business
  • Ensuring that appropriate systems and processes are put in place (both within the finance function itself and in other related areas of the business) to cope with the business' present needs and evolving such systems and processes to meet future requirements
  • Preparation and presentation of reporting to the Board; continued development and upgrading of the business's MI to aid management decision making, forward planning and support delivery of the business plan
  • Ownership of the Company's banking relationship and day-to-day banking, negotiating / arranging appropriate banking facilities to meet the requirements of the business, ensuring compliance with banking facility agreements
  • Identifying and evaluating acquisition opportunities which support the businesses strategy for growth
  • Oversight of external auditing processes and other outsourced finance functions
  • Communicating regularly and proactively with the PE investors about the company's performance and forecasts

The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate will have a background within a similar sized growing SME and have a proven track record in a finance leadership role. You will have strong commercial acumen, drive and ambition with the ability to be hands on and work with a small leadership team. Excellent communication skills are essential as well as the ability to manage relationships with investors and wider business. Experience of M&A would be advantageous.

You will have the ability to manage, develop and mentor a small team and be forward thinking and strategic with the ability to work at pace, autonomously. This role would be suitable for a Head of Finance/Finance Director looking for their first step into a CFO role. Private Equity experience is not essential for this role but working within a small business where you have had autonomy will be highly desirable.

What's on Offer

Base salary circa £120,000 - £130,000 + Bens + Equity
