Trauma-Informed Teaching Assistant

Posted by Reed.

Are you passionate about making a real difference in young people's lives? Do you believe in the power of relationships, empathy, and emotional safety in education?

We're looking for a compassionate, resilient, and proactive Teaching Assistant to join our trauma-informed team—where connection comes before correction, and every moment is an opportunity to support healing and growth.

?? What You'll Do:

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students who have experienced trauma, adversity, or SEMH challenges.
  • Support emotional regulation, behaviour strategies, and learning—both in and out of the classroom.
  • Use tools like sensory breaks, co-regulation, and restorative conversations to create a safe, nurturing environment.
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and families to deliver consistent, relational support.
  • Celebrate progress—no matter how small—and help students feel seen, heard, and valued.

?? What We're Looking For:

  • Experience working with children or young people (in education, care, or youth work is a plus).
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to behaviour and communication.
  • A willingness to learn about trauma-informed practice and relational approaches.
  • A team player who's flexible, reflective, and ready to grow.

? What You'll Gain:

  • Ongoing training in trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches.
  • A supportive, values-driven team.
  • The chance to make a lasting impact on students who need it most.
