Teaching Assistant

Due to an increasing demand for teaching assistants in our primary schools within the Wigan area we are looking to recruit teaching assistants to fill our day to day and longer term positions.

If you are a qualified level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant in the Preston area who is looking for their next role in the primary classroom and you are confident in supporting the learning and development of pupils in different classes throughout the primary range and you have an adaptable and flexible approach then we would love to hear from you.

Ideally you would have understanding of the curriculum in both Key Stages 1 and 2 and would have recent and relevant experience within primary schools.

The role will require a committed individual to support five days a week, Monday - Friday between the hours of 8.30 - 3.30 with possibility of extending to 4.00pm as and when the school requires extra support.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support the pupils with their learning in 1:1, small groups and the whole class.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher regarding expectations and organising appropriate activities.
  • Liaise with other professionals within the setting eg. Teachers, TAs, specialist support staff.
  • Support the monitoring and tracking of all pupils in line with the assessment procedures in school.

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience of working in a KS1 & KS2 environment.
  • Be comfortable and competent working as a collaborative member of a team.
  • Ability to engage with the pupils and have FUN through learning!
  • Be creative and proactive, not always working under direction.
  • TA qualified - Level 2 or 3.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Knowledge of the new KS1 and KS2 curriculums.
  • An understanding of SEN or learning needs.
  • Paediatric First Aid Certificate.
