Role Overview: TimePlan Education is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teacher to join our specialist school in Wheatley, Oxfordshire. This full-time role involves delivering high-quality teaching and support to students with special educational needs, ensuring their academic, personal, and social development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality teaching to students with SEN, using formative and summative assessments to measure progress.
  • Be accountable for pupils' attainment, progress, and outcomes.
  • Take responsibility for the pastoral care of students, ensuring their well-being and development.
  • Focus on improving behaviour, literacy, numeracy, and communication skills as priority targets for all students.
  • Ensure an appropriate level of inclusion based on the individual needs of each student.
  • Establish and maintain effective home-school links.
  • Attend meetings and lead school trips.
  • Collaborate with the CNS and therapist teams to support students' holistic needs.
  • Demonstrate a high regard for risk management.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Must meet teaching standards with recent, relevant classroom experience teaching primary-age pupils.
  • Excellent understanding of Safeguarding.
  • Ability to support the holistic needs of pupils with complex learning needs and behaviours.
  • Strong classroom organisation and management skills.
  • Proven track record in using pupil performance data to monitor and enhance student progress.
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent understanding of how to support early reading (including structured phonics) and maths knowledge and understanding.
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Understanding of the needs of families with SEN children and ability to maintain strong links with parents/carers.
  • Strong behaviour management skills.
  • Possess a DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for one.
