The Group Accountant will be a critical part of the accounting and finance team at Schaeffler (UK) Ltd, ensuring the accuracy of financial data and contributing to the financial strategy in the industrial / manufacturing industry.

Description

Main activities/responsibilities for the successful Financial Accountant :

  • Provide support for the Accounting, Tax and Treasury functions for all UK Companies.
  • The main accounting duties include the month end closing in line with the Group deadlines, annual statutory accounts and audit process, general ledger reconciliations and journals, bank reconciliations, expenses processing and liaising closely with the Financial Shared Service Centre on centralised processes such as accounts payable and receivable in addition to other ad hoc accounting tasks.
  • The main treasury duties include the preparation of liquidity, cashflow planning reports and forecasts, operational bank accounting, reviewing and processing intercompany funding requirements, processing of payments and receipts in line with approval guidelines in addition to other ad hoc treasury tasks.
  • Responsibility for the accurate reporting and filing of other business taxes: Corporation tax (current and deferred); VAT and other applicable taxes.
  • Ensuring tax compliance on expense processing.
  • Preparation and submission of other ad hoc business reports such as Office of National Statistics (ONS) and Payment Practice Report requiring input from F
  • Responsible for reviewing UK credit control and liaising with the Financial Shared Service Centre and Sales teams.
  • Review and sign off work performed by other members of the Accounting, Tax and Treasury team and provide coaching support as required.
  • Providing cover for any other areas of Accounting, Tax and Treasury during staff absence.
  • Deputising for the Head of Accounting, Tax and Treasury when required.

Profile

A successful Financial Accountant should have:

  • Relevant accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
  • Strong accounting background, ideally with audit and tax experience.
  • Some experience within manufacturing or retail industries is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience of working in a multi-site environment (desirable).
  • Experience of supporting other team members (desirable).
  • Experienced in working under own initiative, demonstrating an ability to set & meet personal targets, combined with the flexibility to adjust to workload priorities to take account of new deadlines.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills and a commitment to customer service.
  • Awareness of wider Company issues and relevant legislation. Required to keep informed of changes in legislation and departmental policy to deliver correct advice.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload, maintain confidentiality, and produce/process documents accurately.
  • IT knowledge, including e-mail, Excel, Word, Power-point, SAP or other ERP system.
