Job Title: Creative Teaching Assistant for Year 3

Location: Barking & Dagenham

Start Date: September 2024

Contract Type: Full-time, Term-time only

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Job Description:

We are seeking a creative and imaginative Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Barking & Dagenham. This role involves providing one-on-one support to a creative and imaginative child in Year 3 that requires extra support. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to ensure the child receives tailored support that fosters their academic, social, and emotional development. Drama or Arts graduates with experience working with children would be an excellent fit of this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual support to a creative and imaginative Year 3 child, both in and outside the classroom.
  • Assist in implementing the child's Individual Education Plan (IEP) and adapting learning materials to meet their specific needs.
  • Support the child in developing social skills and managing behavioral challenges.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, and other professionals to monitor and assess the child's progress.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Communicate effectively with the child's parents or guardians to provide updates on progress and discuss strategies.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with special educational needs (SEN), or experience working with children.
  • Patience, empathy, and a strong commitment to supporting children's individual needs.
  • A creative approach to learning to engage the learner.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong behaviour management skills.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and adapting to the child's evolving needs.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
