Assistant Accountant
3 Month Contract

£35,000 - £40,000 per annum
Our client, a dynamic business in the south west, is currently seeking an adept Assistant Accountant, to join their Finance team on a full-time, 3 month contract.
As the Assistant Accountant, you will support finance team in managing payments and cashbooks, maintaining records, processing expenses, and assisting with audits.
The responsibilities:
- Provide assistance to Finance and Reporting teams to ensure smooth financial operations.
- Prepare weekly BACS runs and bank payments, coordinating with colleagues for timely execution.
- Manage the cashbook, ensuring accurate financial reporting and record-keeping.
- Handle supplier setup and maintenance within the Finance system, keeping all information up-to-date.
- Maintain the company's accounting and control systems, ensuring compliance with financial standards.
- Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support.
- Process employee expenses with accurate VAT calculations, ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Prepare ad hoc sales invoices and cover customs clearance procedures as needed, supporting various financial tasks.
The candidate:
- Proven experience in a similar role, AAT qualification is desirable but not essential.
- Experience with accounting software and accounting procedures, SAGE 200 would be an advantage.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and experienced in accounting software.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to manage workload and prioritise tasks independently in a fast-paced environment.
