Braintree District Council has an exciting opportunity for a full time Housing Assessment Support Officer to join our busy Housing and Communities team on a fixed term contract to cover maternity leave.

Location: Braintree

Salary: £24,505 to £27,571 per annum

Job Type: Full time, fixed term for up to 12 months

Hours: 37 Hours per week

Housing Assessment Support Officer – The Role:

The role involves maintaining the Housing Register for the district through the Gateway to Home choice website and the duties will include assessing housing applications, dealing with changes of circumstance, advertising empty properties for social landlords and shortlisting for some.

Housing Assessment Support Officer – You:

Applicants should have excellent communication skills as they will be dealing with customers, colleagues and staff from partner organisations on a daily basis. The service uses a dedicated IT system and the successful applicant will need to have good practical IT skills, the ability to work accurately under pressure and an eye for detail.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is organised, self-motivated, enthusiastic and pro-active in their approach to join our team.

A knowledge of housing issues and previous experience of working in a housing-related role would be an advantage but is not essential as training will be provided.
