Shift Chemical Process Engineer/ Operative

Location: Cottenham, Cambridge (must be able to drive to site unless local)

Type: Permanent

Salary: £13.00 - £14.00 ph depending on experience (£33,488 pro rota)

Hours:

  • Preference is days- Tuesday to Friday (6am until 6pm) 12h shifts
  • Possible night shift - Tuesday to Friday (6pm until 6am) 12h shifts

Our client a chemical company based in Cottenham is looking to recruit an Process Engineer/ Operative to work onsite at their modern facility.

The Role (possibly x2 positions available): -

  • Ensuring production of finished products at optimum levels at all times
  • Constant analysis of the product to calculate the speeds through process
  • Informing senior operative and/or shift manager if problems arise with the process and ensuring all relevant paperwork is filed regarding breakdowns or faults etc.
  • Monitoring product stocks and informing senior operative and/or shift manager if running low on product space to process
  • Unloading and testing of waste oil and the segregation into appropriate tanks
  • Obtaining samples, ensuring tested and results available before any unloading or segregation of waste oils
  • Ensuring all paperwork for process is fully complete
  • Ensuring waste oils are stored in the appropriate tanks and at acceptable quantity levels
  • Running of water process and ensuring samples are forwarded to the lab
  • Taking accountability for overall housekeeping and meeting cleanliness standards in the yard area
  • Ensuring your PPE is worn at all times
  • Carrying out any other tasks requested via senior operator, shift manager or operations manager to ensure all other areas of depot run efficiently

The Person:

  • The ideal applicant will hold a higher level qualification in Chemistry or similar. Must hold a minimum of Grade C/ Grade 4 in GCSE Chemistry.
  • The ideal applicant will have waste management experience & some mechanical experience but this isn't essential.
  • Confined space training highly desirable but not essential
  • Experience working to regulations in a manufacturing setting (desirable) and following SOPs.
  • Will have a strong work ethic & appreciation for health and safety.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Reliable and flexible.
  • Strong interpersonal skills/ motivated
