Teaching Assistant/Mentor

  • Job Type: Part-Time and Full Time (up to 35 hours available)
  • Location: Weston Super Mare
  • Actual Starting Salary (39 working weeks): £19,315 (based on 35 hours per week, term time only + INSET)

We are excited to offer the opportunity to join our clients team within a specialist Academy, supporting young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) issues. Our school is rapidly progressing and expanding, catering to students aged 11- 17 with SEMH difficulties. We are seeking enthusiastic, resilient, and highly motivated Teaching Assistants/Mentors who are passionate about inclusive education. You must be able to drive and prepared to add business onto insurance due to needing to transfer pupils to activities.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Assist in the educational, personal, and social development of designated students under the direction and guidance of the Principal, SENCo, and class teachers.
  • Support students by adopting relevant strategies and techniques to enable them to access the curriculum and engage with their learning.
  • Implement planned learning activities/teaching programmes, adjusting activities according to students' responses.
  • Deliver measurable impact on student attainment as well as social and emotional well-being.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to fulfil the requirements of the role.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Enthusiasm for and commitment to supporting young people with SEMH.
  • Resilience and motivation to help students achieve their full potential.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Flexibility to adapt to the needs of each student.
  • Experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential.
  • Must have full, clean driving licence
