Transformer Design Engineer

Job Overview: The Transformer Design Engineer position involves providing technical guidance and support to clients acquiring new transformers from a firm situated in the northern region of England. A key aspect of the role is specifying and designing transformers according to customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:·
- Develop comprehensive technical designs and specifications for transformers up to 300kVA capacity.

  • Offer customer assistance during design review processes, including electrical design calculations, evaluation of drawings and documentation, and participation in meetings.
  • Support customers in managing transformers throughout their operational life cycle.
  • Investigate transformer failures and conduct analyses for transformer rewinding.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, and equipment required for quotations.
  • Contribute to the preparation of bid proposals and tender documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to industry standards and safety regulations across all designs and cost estimates.
  • Continuously update and maintain cost databases and estimation tools.
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior Engineers.
  • Collaborate with clients to comprehend their requirements and address any concerns related to technical designs and cost estimates.
  • Conduct site visits to gather relevant information and validate project requirements.
  • Prepare comprehensive costing for completed projects.
  • Complete administrative tasks as assigned, including expense reports and timesheets.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience with transformers.
  • Expertise in transformer design, construction, and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficient in performing electrical design calculations for transformers, preferably up to 300kVA.
  • Knowledge of transformer factory and site acceptance procedures.
  • Ability to conduct transformer testing and evaluations.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills in English.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
