SEN Tutor

Posted by Asend Limited.

ASEND tuition supports SEND pupils and continues their learning while they cannot access school or don't have a school place. We are looking for a SEN Tutor with experience working with Makaton and PECS to support a pupil with speech and language needs in Uxbridge.

What ASEND Tuition Is

We are looking for inspirational and empathetic tutors to support children and young people with SEND in Uxbridge. We support pupils with SEND who are not attending school for a number of reasons including Mental Health issues, or lack of a suitable school place. We aim to prepare them for a new special school placement or preparing for adulthood.

We tutor pupils of all ages face-to-face within school times and in a range of settings including homes, schools, community centres and out in the community. Our tuition is completely pupil-focused and can target developing early learning, following an academic curriculum, providing emotional support or developing life skills. We need a wide range of tutors to support our pupils to meet their specific needs and ensure good progress. We work very hard to match each tutor with pupils who can most benefit from their skills and expertise.

About The Pupil

Our pupil is 14 years old and has speech and language needs. She is a friendly and bright pupil who needs support in developing her communication and support with her learning difficulties. She has a very keen interest in music and singing, and she is a very sociable young person who loves to interact with others. We would love to find someone who can help her become even more confident with her interactions by developing her social interaction skills, such as requesting things, sharing and turn-taking.

The ideal tutor would be someone who is able to incorporate visuals and play into her learning to make it engaging. Someone who can help her become more independent on day-to-day activities would also be crucial, as these skills will help her prepare for the future and guide her through adolescence. A tutor with experience using PECS and Makaton will be essential as this is how you would be communicating with the pupil.
