Divisional Accountant

Michael Page is delighted to partner on a retained basis with our client Forest Garden Limited. This is an exciting newly created opportunity based out of their Lockerbie Sawmill site. The Divisional Accountant will have overall responsibility to prepare, analyse, report and advise on divisional financial performance, and so support appropriate management decision making for the achievement of divisional targets.

Our client Forest Garden Ltd, have been the UK's leading and most trusted manufacturer and distributor of quality wooden garden products for over 50 years. Today, you'll find their range of garden buildings, fencing, decking and decorative structures for sale across many sites online and in over 3,000 retail stores.

They're proud to be a British company using sustainable, British timber. The majority of the timber they use is grown and felled from managed UK forests across Scotland. After felling, the timber is cut and processed in the Lockerbie sawmill and taken to their manufacturing operation in rural Worcestershire.

Description

The successful candidate will like have the following responsibilities:

  • In depth daily variance analysis (material, labour and overhead) on divisional performance, with a key focus on providing insight into variance to standards to both local and group management.
  • Maintenance of detailed profitability by SKU analysis, to support sales / transfer pricing decisions.
  • Ownership of divisional Bills of Material (BOM), ensuring the BOM's held within the divisions ERP accurately reflect agreed standards - both throughputs and hourly rates.
  • Ownership of the material prices and hourly rate calculations used within standard costs.
  • Management of divisional stock valuations and provisioning.
  • Preparation of weekly divisional 'Flash' reporting.
  • Monthly divisional management accounts preparation and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Continual improvement recommendations to divisional processes, both within the immediate function and cross function where appropriate.
  • Financial appraisals of divisional investment proposals, including post implementation reviews.
  • Preparation and presentation of annual divisional budgets alongside local management.
  • Ongoing preparation of monthly divisional reforecasting.

Profile

The successful candidate will likely have the following profile:

  • Professional calibre, with proven experience in a similar role.
  • Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, ICAS, ICAEW) with manufacturing/industry experience with an emphasis on cost accounting.
  • Excellent IT, analytical, administration and organisational skills.
  • Experience of Qlikview, Power Bi or similar BI reporting tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Job Offer

This role will be hybrid and offer a competitive package of £55,000-£60,000 plus benefits.
