THE ROLE:

Regulatory Reporting is the London Stock Exchange's regulatory reporting provider. Regulatory Reporting customers include investment banks, hedge funds, brokers and other financial services firms. Regulatory Reporting provides business solutions in the areas of:

  • Regulatory reporting with MiFIR, EMIR, G20 and other regimes
  • Provision of reference data (especially financial instruments data)
  • Analytics and surveillance of the data above

This product owner role will be required to lead a core Regulatory Reporting team, which is made up of a scrum master, Developers, QA specialists and is supported by other Regulatory Reporting functions such as the Product Management, Sales, Compliance and Risk teams.

The culture of the Regulatory Reporting team is dynamic, and requires each individual to adapt rapidly to change, contribute fully and think on their feet. In addition to the dev and QA teams, this role involves ongoing interaction with all other areas (professional services, application management, platform team, alternate scrum teams), as well as with partners (especially regulators) and customers.

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Contributing to the product strategy and roadmap creation and making sure product enhancements are aligned with Regulatory Reporting's overall product strategy and roadmap
  • Client centric thinking, ensure value is delivered to the client
  • Working with Product Management to effectively manage a product backlog that guides the incremental delivery of business value
  • Prioritising the most valuable items as per Scrum methodology and balancing competing demands while ensuring clients and regulators are considered in trade-off discussions, and the prioritisation process is transparent
  • Leading the scrum. Providing a clear vision internally of what the scrum is working on and why.
  • Breaking down each epic into features or stories with the appropriate level of details to achieve definition of ready i.e. development can start at the beginning of the next sprint.
  • Strong regulatory knowledge in order to support the core products (EMIR,MIFIR, G20)
  • Technical knowledge in order to bridge the gap between business and technology
  • Analysing technical, business and regulatory requirements, assessing commercial opportunities and translating them into detailed product requirements
  • Defining the goal of each sprint and the minimum requirements needed to achieve them and being able to effectively prioritise
  • Identifying problems, risks, dependencies and able to deal with them as per Agile principles. Accepting or rejecting work completed by the dev team and accountable for making the decision to release a final piece of work
  • Responsible for and accountable for demonstrating the value of the work delivered. Accountable and responsible for the production of the project outputs and subsequent presentations to stakeholders
  • Conducting ongoing detailed problem analysis, incident management and definition of systemic solutions
  • Establishing best practice, Agile driven processes for defining and documenting requirements, processes and delivery of Regulatory Reporting solutions
  • Responsible and accountable for engaging internal stakeholders throughout each sprint and ensuring key stakeholders attend and actively contribute to key events such as sprint review meetings. Accountable for early escalations if there are issues with stakeholder engagement
  • Regularly updating key stakeholders on project progress and impacts and providing detailed progress updates, in conjunction with the Product Management for relevant external stakeholders such as regulators and clients
  • Contribute as a leader to collaboration and feedback activities e.g. retrospectives, knowledge sharing
  • Working with Product Management and setting up and tracking KPI/Measures and client/user feedback

Essential skills and experience:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively manage stakeholder relationships
  • Experience in user story writing and story mapping
  • Experience in backlog prioritisation and understand constraints that may affect the prioritisation process
  • Experience in release planning and product roadmap creation
  • Able to analyse business needs and activities and translate them into UnaVista solution requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Able to identify root causes of problems and to evaluate information with sound judgement, attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be self-motivated and have a desire to engage in process improvement
  • Solid regulatory reporting expertise i.e. MiFIR, EMIR, G20

Desirable skills and experience

  • Knowledge of cash equity, derivative and fixed income markets
  • SQL
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle
  • Knowledge of general computer science concepts / willingness to learn these on the job
  • Work management tools such as Jira and Confluence
  • Knowledge of cloud technology and BI toolsScru
