This Fire and Rescue Service in Nottinghamshire has a unique opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join their team as a Finance Apprentice!

Finance Apprentice Arnold, Nottingham, NG5 8PP

  • Full time, 37 hours per week (Monday - Friday)
  • £11.44 per hour
  • FTC (18-24 months)
  • September 2024 start date

The successful candidate will assist the Finance Department in providing a high-quality, professional service to employees of the Fire and Rescue Service.

During the apprenticeship, training will be given for the successful candidate to gain experience in all areas of finance services. This includes processing invoices for payment on the financial system, obtaining authorisation, and processing Petty Cash returns.

The Finance Apprentice will gain experience in:

  • Processing invoices and obtaining payment authorisation
  • Preparing supplier details for the financial system
  • Handling cheques, BACS, and CHAPS payments
  • Managing and reconciling petty cash
  • Reconciling employee deduction accounts
  • Processing and checking travel and expense claims
  • Conducting stock-taking in the Supplies Department
  • Collecting and banking income
  • Allocating income and reconciling with the general ledger
  • Managing stationery orders, arranging travel, and covering for the Finance Assistant

Experience / Qualifications

  • GCSE Maths and English Grade 4-9 or equivalent (predicted results can also be accepted if you are still completing your GCSE's)
  • It would be great if you have experience using Microsoft Office software, but this is not a deal breaker as training will be given!
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Be able to work both as part of a team and independently
